LifeStraw Peak Series Review
The LifeStraw, with more than 17 years as one of the top outdoor accessories, has been one of the most successful outdoor products on the market.
Famous for its incredible filtering properties, the LifeStraw allows outdoor enthusiasts to drink directly from lakes, rivers and streams without worry. The high-tech internal filter protects against 99.999999% of bacteria, 99.999% of parasites and 99.999% of microplastics, silt, sand, and cloudiness for a safe way to purify water in the wild.
The LifeStraw team has been busy on the drawing board and has now released the Peak Series – a selection of products (personal filter, collapsible squeeze bottle, and gravity system) to cover every situation.
The Peak Series LifeStraw
The first thing you’ll notice when unboxing the new and updated LifeStraw is just how good it looks and feels. The team has done a fantastic job with a timeless redesign with the filter now available in both Dark Mountain Gray (pictured) and an equally handsome Mountain Blue.
But the updated design isn’t purely stylistic and the straw features better ergonomics, improved versatility and a focus on sustainability. An improved flow rate is one of the big updates and the newly engineered filter reduces clogging of both sand and silt for improved performance over the lifetime of the straw.
As with the previous iteration, the Peak Series personal filter has been rigorously tested, ensuring drinking water protocols from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and NSF International/ANSI are satisfied.
No matter where you are or what you’re drinking from, the LifeStraw is designed with protection in mind – there are almost 0 risks when drinking with the filter.
Who is the LifeStraw for?
When packing for a trip outdoors, half of the equipment in your rucksack are things that you hope you’ll never have to use. A first aid kit, emergency whistle and headtorch are commonplace in most hiking rucksacks – but we think the LifeStraw should be the next guest at the safety part.
The LifeStraw may just save the day if you’re ever in a drinking water pinch, but it’s not just for survival situations. If you’re a trail runner, ultralight backpacker, or just want to cut out the water weight on your next hike, finding, collecting and drinking wild water is all possible with the personal filter.
With such a low price point, the LifeStraw is a true no-brainer and no backpack, emergency kit or outdoor enthusiast glove box should be without. If you do happen to get caught in an emergency without clean drinking water, the LifeStraw really can make all the difference.
