OLPRO Ranger Lightweight Two Person Tent Review
Pitching the tent
If you’ve been wild camping before, you’ll know the fear of judging the daylight hours wrong and having to pitch up in the dark. Luckily, the Ranger takes just 10 minutes to erect from start to finish – meaning it’s also pretty good for if you’re ever stuck in a patch of bad weather.
All packed up, this tent fits into a bag that’s just 45cm in length and weighs in at 2.2kg. You’re unlikely to notice much difference with this tent on your back, which means more room for snacks and extra pairs of socks. The Backpacker from Salkan would make a great fit for transporting this tent, as you could attach it using the moveable straps at the bottom of the pack.
The Ranger comes with lightweight alloy poles and pegs to help you pitch up quickly and easily. You’ll start by pitching the outer flysheet, allowing you to keep the inner tent dry. This is pretty simple to do – just slot the poles into place and attach them to the bottom of the tent for it to stand freely. Bear in mind that one of the poles is longer than the other – this needs to be the pole that sits on top.
You don’t necessarily need two people to pitch this tent, either – once you’ve stood it up, the Ranger is easy to peg to the ground. From there, you can untie and peg down the guy ropes. These are bright yellow to prevent any accidents – if you’ve ever tripped over a guy rope, you’ll appreciate how hi-vis these are.
Once you’ve set up the outside of the tent, it’s nice and simple to unravel the inner tent and hook it up inside. This has a sewn-in groundsheet to keep you warm and dry at all times.

Outside the OLPRO Ranger
The Ranger is a green tent with red trim and has a geodesic design that makes it very strong. Though we’d always recommend pitching up somewhere away from strong gusts of wind, it’s nice to know you’re covered if unexpected weather comes your way. The tent itself is made from 210T Ripstop Polyester, adding another layer of strong protection.
With a 5000mm hydrostatic head, you’re also pretty covered against the rain in this tent. Just in case you’re unfamiliar with the lingo, this effectively means the Ranger could hold off 5000mm of water before it started to leak through the fabric.
Groundsheets need a higher figure to withstand pressure against the wet ground – this one has a HH of 10,000mm. In the UK, the HH of material must be at least 1500mm to be legally considered ‘waterproof’, so you’re well on your way with the Ranger.
Vents are placed around the outside of the tent to prevent condensation and keep the air flowing through. These can be adjusted slightly if needed.
Inside the OLPRO Ranger
The Ranger is a 2-berth tent that’s 105cm high, 225cm in length, and 190cm in width. This means there’s no standing room, which is normal for a tent of this size. As mentioned earlier, the inner tent has a sewn-in groundsheet that works to keep wet weather and bugs out, and heat in.
It also has a storage compartment that’s accessible through a door at the back of the inner tent – this is both one of the best features of the tent and one of our biggest gripes.
It’s a great idea that helps to keep muddy boots and wet gear outside out of the main compartment, but a design flaw with the zips has unfortunately limited this use as they’re very much inside out! It would be great to see the brand rectify this in future releases, as we’re sure they’ve already done.
Overall verdict
If you’re an avid wild camper, walker, or even cyclist, the Ranger 2-Person tent from OLPRO is likely to be a fantastic shout.
Its quick pitch-up time is fantastic for setting up camp at a moment’s notice, and we love the sturdy shape and material of the tent. It’s a shame about the inside pocket, but as far as we’re concerned, it’s not that much of an issue- especially in a wild camping tent.
Plus, with 2 years guarantee on the product, you can purchase with confidence. Don’t forget that if you’d like to save 10% on your OLPRO UK purchase, use our discount code ADVENTUREPENDING10 at the checkout!
